Syrah 2010
We have sourced a special parcel of grapes for this wine from dedicated certified organic growers in the Hawkes Bay, a world renowned syrah growing region well suited for producing this exciting wine variety.
Nose: Delicious dark berry fruits flavours with spicy and peppery notes.
Palate: A big wine with concentrated sweet fruit and lots of fine tannins. Beautiful subtle oak characters linger on the long finish. A youthful wine now it will age gracefully for number of years.
Vintage: The grapes were hand harvested on May 10th 2010 at 23.8 Brix.
Wine Making: The grapes were de-stemmed, crushed and then transferred to an open top fermenter. Traditional hand plunging of the cap was carried out throughout the ferment. The grapes stayed for 10 days in the fermenter. The juice was then moved to French oak barrels where it aged for 11 months. The wine went through full malolactic fermentation in the spring and then blended, filtered and bottled in March 2011.

"Fully certified organic fruit from a Hawke's Bay grower, the grapes destemmed and fermented to 13.6% alc., the wine aged 11 months in French oak. Full, deep, purple-hued ruby-red colour. The nose is gentle and harmonious, showing rich, ripe blackberry, black pepper, spice and liquorice aromas lifted with some violet-like perfumes. A medium-light bodied wine, this shows plump, juicy, dark plum, boysenberry and jam flavours, the accessibility enhanced by soft acidity and low tannin extraction. The gentle textures and sweet fruitiness will make this a wine to enjoy over the next 3-5 years. Match with pizza, pasta and barbecued food.
