Nelson Monarch Rosé 2011

Richmond Plains produced New Zealand’s first certified organic Pinot Noir Rosé.

Our Rosé is a fruity and elegant wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes.  Nicely chilled this wine is perfect as an aperitif or summertime drinking.

Richmond Plains is certified organic by BioGro New Zealand.

Nose:  Fragrant with red cherry, raspberry and strawberry aromas.

Palate:  Delicious soft strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant flavours.  This wine has a refreshing, dry minerally finish which makes it an excellent accompaniment to a wide variety of lighter flavoured food dishes.

Vintage:  This Rose was produced from hand picked Pinot Noir grapes after a warm sunny Autumn which produced great quality fruit and excellent flavours.   

Wine Making:  All fruit was crushed and destemmed and held overnight in the press to allow for colour extraction before being cool fermented to preserve the vibrant primary fruit characters.

Sulphur:  This wine is made with minimal levels of sulphur/SO2/preservative 220.

Vegan:  This wine is suitable for vegan diets.

Alcohol:  14%       

Acidity: 5.8  

Residual Sugar: 4 g/L

  Made from hand-picked Pinot Noir, this is lively and appealing on the nose with red cherry, floral and subtle citrus notes. Made from organically grown handpicked Nelson pinot noir this wine is brimming with baked strawberry, raspberry and tangy rhubarb flavours. There’s a lovely earthy note to it, too, which adds appealing depth to the long, lingering finish.

It looks like a bottle of rosé and it tastes like an exceptionally good one too but this 750ml bottle doesn’t quite feel the same; it weighs in at just 325 grams, making it New Zealand’s lightest bottle of wine yet, thanks to the environmental idealist Richmond Plains organic winery in Nelson. As for the contents, this wine tastes of red fruits like raspberry, strawberry and fresh lively red apples. Delicious for summer drinking.
