Nelson Riesling 2011
When young our Riesling produces fresh, lively wines which are great for relaxed summertime drinking; however this wine also has a wonderful ability to age, allowing a wider spectrum of flavours to unfold.
All Richmond Plains grapes are grown on our own vineyard. Both the growing of our grapes and winemaking are certified organic by BioGro New Zealand. We also run our vineyard with a full biodynamic program.
Nose: Honeysuckle and citrus/lime characters on the nose with some underlying mineral notes.
Palate: The citrus characters follow through onto the palate with rich lime and citrus fruit flavours, some delicious honey notes and a mineral background and a long fresh finish.
Vintage: Fruit was hand harvested with the grapes being whole bunch pressed and the juice cool fermented to preserve primary fruit characters. A small amount of residual sugar was retained to provide balance to the natural fruit acids.
Vegan: This wine is suitable for vegan diets.
Alcohol: 12%
Residual Sugar: 9 gms/L
Acidity: 7.5 gms/L

"A very promising Riesling with fragrant aromas of lemon/lime, stone fruits and floral. The palate is taut, intense and vibrant with subtle sweetness and racy acidity. The wine finishes impressively long and dry. Youthful and appealing with its delicate flavours and should evolve into a magnificent wine in time. ««««« Stars, 93 points" - Wine Orbit
"This has a very attractive bouquet of lime and citrus zest along with exotic florals, quite full and up-front in expression. Dry to taste, the fruit flavours of limes and zest are a little shy, but the palate has good body and weight forming concentration and drive. Crisp racy acidity and mineral notes are carried through to a long, soft finish, with apple and floral nuances. «««« Stars" - Raymond Chan
"Richmond Plains Riesling proves you don’t need to spend up large to drink
super - fresh, citrusy purity in an outstanding white."

"This dry style Riesling is beautifully balanced, with the ripe fruit sweetness of lime and lemon held in check by natural acidity. A little hint of orange completes the aromatics with a lovely thick texture that is till refreshing and easy to drink. I cannot understand why good Riesling like this do not knock some of the other varietals off their perch."
